This Japanese has set students a very challenging problem that they are working on collaboratively. The teacher walks around the whole classroom, checking on students’ work and progress. He offers some hints and encouragement, but remains quite reserved too as he listens to different ideas. He then adds a visual representation of the problem on the board to help further guide students, before swiftly bringing the class back together at the end.
This is an urban, public school. Watch out for how the teacher: - Circulates the classroom while students collaboratively solve a problem
- Offers hints and encouragement
- Adds a visual aid to guide students forward
How do you monitor in your own classroom?
