My school (Yokohama Higashi High School) is especially emphasizing international cooperative education, community services (ex. volunteering) and problem based learning as a core of the UNESCO associated school education. Learning projects are based on the action goals of SDGs and ESD.
When we take global warming into consideration with students, textbooks are not always informative enough to let students imagine, "What can we do about this issue?" There must be a connector to correlate our actual lives and knowledge from textbooks, and I believe education is where the goal could be realized, and teachers are the ones to activate the meaningful interactions.
Here I share an example and thoughts of collaboration between students and our local community to seek hidden potentials to take purposeful actions.
